How to Split APE Files

Don’t you hate it when your download of an album finishes, and you realize that it’s one APE file and one cue file? You probably want a separate APE file for each song.

This recipe shows you the way to split a long ape track which has a cue file into saparate files.

1. Download Medieval CUE Splitter and install it.

2. Make sure you have ape codec on your computer. If not, Monkey’s Audio.

3. Run Medieval CUE Splitter. Go to File > Open Cue File… Find the cue file and click Open.

4. The music inlcuded in the ape album display on the list. Specify which track includes or excludes from the split engine processing. You can select or unselect each track manually, by left-clicking over the orange checkbox.

5. Edit track values by double clicking over the desired tack in the grid, or right click over the grid to activate the pop-up menu and then select “Modify track data”.

Now you can modify the track number, Artist name, and Title in the edit track window.

If you want display an accurate track length, choose Configuration in the File dropdown mebu. Enablr the General tab and check “Shows cents value on tracks length” in configuration window. Click Accept.

7. Check File Mask. If you disable the file mask engine, splitted files will be named using “Track_##.ext” format , where “##” is the current track number and ext is the file format, ape in this case. Otherwise, you can specify the year and genre of the ablmu, as well as give a comment.

8. Once done, click the 9 button to split the cue file of ape. File a folder to save the output files in the windows explorer. The splitting process begins.

After splitting, open the folder to try the new single ape files.
